Weerawila Airport is a domestic military and civilian airport located in Weerawila, in the Hambantota District of Sri Lanka's Southern Province. It is operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force and mainly supports domestic air connections between the south of the island and destinations such as Colombo.
The airfield has a long military history; SLAF Station Weerawila was established in 1978. A planned international airport project at Weerawila was later replaced by Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, which opened in 2013, leaving Weerawila as a smaller domestic facility.
The airport is about 6 km from Tissamaharama and close to Kataragama, making it a convenient arrival point for travelers heading to Yala National Park and the southern coast.
