Komatsu Airport is a joint civilian and military airport serving the city of Komatsu, Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture and the Hokuriku region. Originally built as a naval airfield in 1944, it has been shared with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Komatsu Air Base since the early 1960s and today serves both domestic and international passengers.
Located roughly 30 km southwest of Kanazawa, the airport connects the region to Tokyo Haneda, Sapporo, Fukuoka and Naha, along with international destinations such as Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. Its single three-storey terminal keeps navigation simple: check-in and arrivals are on the first floor, dining, shopping and departure gates are on the second, and an observation deck is on the third.
