Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport serves Kokkola, Jakobstad (Pietarsaari) and the surrounding Ostrobothnia coastal region. Opened to traffic in 1960 under the name Kruunupyy Airport, it was renamed Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport in 2010 and remains an important air link for this part of western Finland.
Located in Kronoby, about 20 km south of Kokkola city centre and roughly 31 km from Jakobstad, the airport mainly handles scheduled domestic flights to Helsinki together with charter and private aviation. It has a single passenger terminal, a separate business terminal and a 2,500-metre runway.
The airport is reached by taxi, airport shuttle, rental car and private transfer, and the nearest train station is about 15 minutes away by road. Parking is available directly in front of the terminal, and check-in is generally quick for a regional airport of this size.
