Kitee Airport (KTQ)

Kitee Airport, also known as Kitee Airfield, is a small public airfield serving the town of Kitee in the North Karelia region of eastern Finland. Operated by the City of Kitee, it primarily supports general aviation and gliding activity rather than scheduled passenger flights.

The airfield lies approximately six kilometres from Kitee town centre and has a single asphalt runway, designated 01/19, with a length of about 1,500 metres. The Central Karelia Aviation Club and hobby aviators from Joensuu use the airfield for gliding, and the runway and apron are equipped with lighting.

For scheduled commercial flights, travelers in the area use Joensuu and Savonlinna airports, both located roughly 80 kilometres from Kitee. Kitee itself is well connected by road and rail, with main road 6 and the Helsinki–Joensuu railway line passing through the town.

For private and charter arrivals, onward travel is usually by private car, taxi, rental car or pre-arranged transfer to Kitee town centre and other destinations in North Karelia and nearby eastern Finland.
