About Kariba Airport
Kariba Airport serves the town of Kariba and the Lake Kariba resort area in northern Zimbabwe. Originally established to support the Kariba Dam project, the present airport opened in November 1958 and has remained an important access point for the region.
The airport is located about 4 km east of Kariba town centre and roughly 13 km east of the Kariba Dam. Its single asphalt runway is 1,650 metres long and 18 metres wide, suitable for aircraft up to 41,000 kilograms, with Jet A1 and Avgas fuel available.
KAB handles scheduled domestic flights, including connections to Harare, Victoria Falls and Hwange, as well as charter and safari flights to airstrips across the Zambezi Valley. This makes it a convenient gateway for tiger fishing, game viewing, houseboat trips and other Lake Kariba activities.
The compact terminal offers essential passenger services including immigration and customs, while road transfers, taxis and lodge vehicles connect arriving passengers with Kariba town, lakeside accommodation and nearby attractions in about 10–15 minutes.
