About Kansai International Airport
Kansai International Airport is the main international airport serving Osaka and the Kansai region, which includes the major cities of Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Opened in 1994, it is built on an artificial island in Osaka Bay and handles a large share of the region's international air traffic.
Located approximately 50 km southwest of central Osaka, the airport provides connections to domestic and international destinations and serves both leisure and business travellers. Its terminal infrastructure is designed around Terminal 1, the main terminal, and Terminal 2, which mainly serves low-cost carriers.
