About Jumandy Airport
Jumandy Airport is the main airport serving Tena, the capital of Napo Province in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Opened in 2011, it was built near the village of Ahuano to support access to the region and replaced the city's earlier airfield.
Located around 25 km from central Tena, the airport has a single passenger terminal with capacity for about 150 passengers and a smaller VIP terminal. Its long paved runway and modern infrastructure were designed to handle a wide range of aircraft, including larger domestic operations.
The airport initially welcomed scheduled service when TAME launched a Quito–Macas–Tena route in 2012, but low demand and the good road network led the airline to end flights in January 2016. Since then, the airport has mainly served general aviation, flying schools, military and limited charter operations.
Road access links the airport to Tena and surrounding Amazon destinations such as Misahuallí, with taxis and pre-arranged private transfers providing the main onward travel options. Passenger services such as hotels, restaurants, banks and medical care are concentrated in Tena.
