About Izumo Enmusubi Airport
Izumo Enmusubi Airport is the main airport serving Izumo, Matsue, and the wider Shimane Prefecture region in western Japan. Opened in June 1966, it connects the San'in area with major domestic destinations and also handles international flights.
The airport is located in the Hikawa area of Izumo, on the west shore of Lake Shinji, and is about 20–30 minutes by car from central Izumo or Matsue. Its single terminal building is organized across three floors and is used for both domestic and international services, with boarding bridges for passenger operations.
Airport buses connect the terminal with JR Izumo-shi Station, JR Matsue Station, Izumo Taisha, and Tamatsukuri Onsen, while taxis, private transfers, and rental cars provide additional onward travel options. The airport is not directly served by rail.
