About Iwami Airport
Iwami Airport is a small regional airport serving western Shimane Prefecture and parts of northeastern Yamaguchi Prefecture, including the city of Masuda and the historic town of Hagi. Opened in July 1993, it provides an important air link for the San'in region.
Also known as Hagi-Iwami Airport, the airport is located about 4 km from central Masuda, roughly a 15-minute drive. It mainly handles domestic flights, with ANA services connecting the region to Tokyo Haneda.
The compact terminal building has check-in and arrival facilities on the first floor, departure facilities, a souvenir shop and a restaurant on the second floor, and an observation deck on the third floor.
Travelers can continue by local bus to Masuda Station, shared limousine taxis, regular taxis or rental cars, with road and rail connections onward to Hagi, Hamada, Tsuwano and other destinations in the region.
