Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport is a compact civil-military airport serving the city of Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Opened in December 2012, it is one of Japan's joint-use airports, sharing its runway with Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Iwakuni Air Base.
Located in the Nishiki River delta east of central Iwakuni, the airport is close to the city centre and around 20 minutes by car from the famous Kintaikyo Bridge. It provides convenient domestic connections through ANA flights to Tokyo Haneda and Naha, Okinawa, linking the region to the capital and other parts of Japan.
The single two-storey terminal keeps check-in, security, baggage claim and arrivals within one compact building. An airport bus connects the terminal to JR Iwakuni Station in about 7 minutes, where San'yo Main Line trains continue to Miyajimaguchi and Hiroshima, while a direct highway bus serves Hiroshima Bus Center.
