About Ili Yining International Airport
Ili Yining International Airport is the main civil airport serving Yining and the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern Xinjiang. First opened in 1936, it is one of the region's oldest airports and now functions as an international gateway for the Ili Valley.
The airport operates a single comprehensive passenger terminal of about 24,000 square metres, with an international section and five boarding bridges. Its 2,400-metre runway supports domestic routes across China as well as international services to destinations including Almaty and Astana in Kazakhstan.
Located roughly 3.5 km southwest of central Yining, the airport is close to the city and easy to reach by local bus or taxi, with a parking area beside the terminal.
It serves both leisure and business travellers heading to Yining and nearby Ili Valley attractions, providing check-in, security, arrivals, dining, shopping and VIP lounge facilities in a compact, accessible terminal.
