Ibaraki Airport is a compact civil-military airport in Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, serving the prefecture and the northern Kanto region. It opened to civil aviation in March 2010 and shares its site with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Hyakuri Air Base.
The airport is located about 80 km northeast of central Tokyo and around 21 km from Mito, the prefectural capital. Its single two-story terminal handles domestic routes to cities such as Sapporo, Kobe, Fukuoka and Naha, as well as international flights to destinations including Shanghai, Seoul, Cheongju and Taipei.
The terminal places departure and arrival functions on the first floor, with dining, shopping and an observation deck on the second floor. Passengers can reach Mito Station and Tokyo Station by scheduled bus, or use taxis, private transfers and rental cars for onward travel.
