About Hyvinkää Airfield
Hyvinkää Airfield is one of Finland's most active general aviation and gliding airfields. Located in the northeastern part of Hyvinkää in the Uusimaa region, it is used mainly by private pilots, flying schools and recreational aviation clubs rather than scheduled airline traffic.
The airfield has two runways: a 1,260-metre asphalt runway designated 04/22 and a shorter 790-metre asphalt and gravel runway designated 12/30. The field is operated by Hyvinkään Ilmailukerho, with clubs including Jukolan Pilotit and Mäntsälän Ilmailukerho also active there.
The airfield sits about 1 km from Hyvinkää town centre and roughly 50 km north of Helsinki. The town is served by road and rail connections, making it possible to continue from the airfield to Hyvinkää station, Helsinki and other parts of southern Finland.
Aviation history in Hyvinkää dates back to the early 1940s, when the field was established. A former Aero terminal building still stands on the site and is now used as the Hyvinkään Ilmailukerho club building. The airfield offers fuel, club facilities, aircraft parking and apron areas for general aviation users.
