About Huatugou Airport

Huatugou Airport is a domestic feeder airport serving Mangnai (Mangya), a county-level city in the Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, China. Located in Huatugou Town, it is a high-altitude airport at about 2,906 metres and functions as the main air link for this remote western-Qinghai oilfield region.

The airport opened on 26 June 2015 following construction that began in 2012, and was renamed Haixi Mangya Airport in 2025. It has a single 3,000-square-metre passenger terminal, four aircraft stands and a 3,600-metre runway, with capacity designed for around 90,000 passengers per year.

The airport lies about 5.5 km north of Mangnai city centre and roughly 4.5 km from the shore of Gasi Kule Lake. Airport buses depart about 20 minutes after flight arrivals to destinations including the oilfield passenger station and the city area, while private cars can use the G315 and Airport Road.

China Eastern Airlines currently connects Huatugou with Xining, Delingha and Dunhuang, supporting regional travel across Qinghai and neighbouring areas. The airport provides a compact, practical gateway for visitors, workers and business travellers in the Qaidam Basin region.
