About Hiroshima Airport
Hiroshima Airport is the main airport serving Hiroshima and the surrounding Chugoku region in western Japan. Opened in 1993, the current airport in Mihara City replaced the older Hiroshima-Nishi Airport and became the region's principal gateway for domestic and international travel. Located roughly 50 km east of central Hiroshima, the airport connects the city and prefecture with major domestic routes and selected international destinations in Asia. Its single three-level passenger terminal houses domestic and international departures and arrivals, with restaurants, shops and an observation deck. The airport is linked to Hiroshima Station and the city centre by limousine bus, taxis, rental cars and road connections, while other bus and rail combinations serve nearby areas in the prefecture. With a 3,000-metre runway and a compact, easy-to-navigate terminal, Hiroshima Airport provides a practical arrival point for visitors heading to Hiroshima, Miyajima, the Seto Inland Sea and the wider Chugoku and Shikoku regions.
