About Helsinki Hernesaari Heliport
Helsinki Hernesaari Heliport (HEN) is a former heliport in the Hernesaari district on Helsinki's southern waterfront. For years it served as a compact aviation gateway, most notably for scheduled helicopter connections between Helsinki and Tallinn across the Gulf of Finland.
The heliport was operated by Helikopterikeskus and supported commercial helicopter traffic, including the Helsinki–Tallinn route flown by Copterline. Scheduled service on the route began in 2000 and continued in several phases before regular operations ended, and the heliport eventually closed in 2020 as the Hernesaari area was redeveloped.
Located about 3 km south of central Helsinki, the site has good connections to the city by road, with trams, buses, taxis, private transfers and rental cars available for onward travel to hotels, the city centre and other parts of the Helsinki region.
Because of its waterfront location, Hernesaari is also close to Helsinki's maritime areas, cruise terminals and popular districts. The former heliport site now forms part of a developing neighbourhood with a strong connection to the sea and the surrounding city.
