Helsinki Airport is Finland's main international airport, serving Helsinki and the wider Helsinki metropolitan area. Opened in 1952 for the Helsinki Summer Olympic Games, it has grown into the country's primary hub for domestic, European and long-haul air travel.
Located in Vantaa about 20 km north of central Helsinki, the airport connects travellers to destinations across Finland, Europe, Asia and North America. Since June 2022, all passengers have used a single terminal, with Schengen and domestic flights on one side and non-Schengen flights on the other.
The airport is linked to the city by the I and P commuter trains, HSL bus route 600, taxis, private transfers and road connections, making onward travel to Helsinki and surrounding areas straightforward.
