About Hejing Bayinbuluke Airport
Hejing Bayinbuluke Airport is a domestic regional airport serving Hejing County and the Bayanbulak Grassland in the Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang, China. Opened in August 2024, it is the second high-plateau airport in Xinjiang, with an elevation of about 2,506 metres.
The airport lies around 13.5 km in a straight line, and roughly 16 km by road, northeast of Bayinbuluke Town. Its 4C-rated facilities include a single terminal of about 3,500 square metres, six Class C aircraft stands and a 3,000-metre runway capable of handling Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft and smaller types.
The airport opened with a daily round-trip service to Korla, with plans to add routes to major domestic hubs such as Shanghai and Beijing. It mainly supports tourism traffic to the Bayanbulak Grassland, Swan Lake and other scenic areas in the Tianshan region.
Road access connects the airport to Bayinbuluke Town and surrounding grassland attractions, with taxis, private transfers, rental cars and group vehicles available for onward travel. The compact terminal keeps the arrival and departure process simple for visitors to this remote part of Xinjiang.
