About Gran Canaria Airport
Gran Canaria Airport is the main international airport serving Gran Canaria and the island capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Opened as a civilian airfield in 1930, it has grown into one of the key gateways to the Canary Islands, carrying flights between mainland Spain, the other islands, Europe and further international destinations.
Located in the Bay of Gando between the municipalities of Telde and Ingenio, the airport sits about 18 km south of Las Palmas and roughly 25 km from the island's main southern resort areas. Its single passenger terminal opened in 1973 and was modernised in a major renovation completed in 2015.
The terminal is organised into departure zones for inter-island, domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen flights, with check-in areas distributed across the building. Travellers can use airline counters, self-service check-in and baggage drop facilities before passing through security.
