About Gordil Airport
Gordil Airport is a small airstrip serving Gordil, a remote settlement in the Vakaga prefecture of northeastern Central African Republic. It mainly supports domestic charter flights, humanitarian operations and private aircraft rather than regular scheduled passenger services.
The airstrip lies about 5 km southeast of Gordil village, alongside the RN8 road and within the northern part of Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park. Its single unpaved laterite runway is designated 12/30, and operations are restricted to daylight and visual flight conditions.
Because of the national park setting, aircraft use steep approaches and departures to avoid disturbing wildlife, and the runway can become unusable during the rainy season. The nearest larger settlements are Birao, roughly 140 km to the northeast, and Ndélé, about 175 km to the southwest.
Ground access is by road, mainly along the RN8, with onward transfers to Gordil village and other nearby communities. The airstrip remains a practical entry point for travelers, aid workers and researchers visiting this remote part of the Central African Republic.
