About Gode Airport
Gode Airport, also known as Ugaas Mirad Ugaas Leyli Airport, is the main airport serving Gode in Ethiopia's Somali Region. It handles domestic flights and connects eastern Ethiopia with the national air network.
A new passenger terminal opened in 2024 after a three-year construction project. The terminal has a built-up area of about 3,500 square metres and an apron that can accommodate up to four De Havilland Q400 or Boeing 737 aircraft at a time. The project also added a rescue and firefighting station, water reservoir and parking areas.
Located about 3 km from the city centre, the airport is managed by Ethiopian Airlines Group. Ethiopian Airlines operates daily flights to and from Gode and links Gode with Jigjiga without the need to transit via Addis Ababa.
Ground access to Gode is available by taxi and private transfers, making onward travel into the city and surrounding Somali Region relatively straightforward.
