About Ghanzi Airport
Ghanzi Airport is a small port of entry airport serving Ghanzi, the main town of the Ghanzi District in western Botswana. It sits adjacent to the town, about 1 km northeast of the centre, and currently handles charter and private flights rather than scheduled commercial services.
The airport lies roughly 600 km west of Gaborone and around 280–300 km southwest of Maun, near the Trans-Kalahari Highway. It functions as a regional gateway for the Kalahari, including the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, San cultural tourism, and the area's cattle-farming and safari economy.
The facility has a single basic terminal building and a bitumen-sealed 1,500 m runway designated 06/24, suitable for light aircraft. It operates without a control tower, and customs and immigration clearance for international charter flights requires prior notification.
Onward travel from the airport is usually by private vehicle, pre-arranged transfer or lodge shuttle, since public transport is limited. A 4x4 is useful for exploring the surrounding Kalahari region, wildlife areas and cattle ranches.
