Tshabong Airport (TBY)

Tshabong Airport is a small airport serving Tsabong, the administrative centre of the Kgalagadi District in southern Botswana. Located in the Kalahari Desert, it supports charter flights, government operations and emergency medical services that connect this remote district with the rest of Botswana. The airport lies a few kilometres outside Tsabong town and has a single gravel runway. It does not have a large passenger terminal, so most travellers use the airport as a simple arrival point before continuing by road to Tsabong, local lodges or the wider Kgalagadi region. Transport from the airport is mostly arranged in advance through private transfers, taxis or rental vehicles, since there is no public transport service at the airfield. The drive into Tsabong town centre takes only a short time, making onward travel straightforward for those with pre-booked arrangements. For a remote desert community, Tshabong Airport plays an important practical role as an air link for essential services and regional mobility, even though its passenger facilities are limited compared with larger commercial airports.
