The airstrip is used mainly by light aircraft such as Cessna Caravans, with scheduled charter flights connecting Savuti to Maun and Kasane. It has a single gravel runway and minimal infrastructure, functioning primarily as a transit point for guests traveling to and from nearby lodges and camps.
Located roughly 170 km southwest of Kasane, the airstrip is reached almost exclusively by air, because road journeys through deep sand can take several hours. Most visitors arrange flights through their lodge or tour operator, and lodge guides normally meet guests at the aircraft.
