About Gannan Xiahe Airport
Gannan Xiahe Airport is the air gateway to Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southern Gansu Province. Opened on 19 August 2013, it connects the prefecture by air with domestic destinations such as Xi'an, Chengdu, Lhasa and Tianjin.
Located at Kusaitang Village in Xiahe County, the airport sits at an elevation of about 3,189 metres, making it a high-altitude plateau airport. It lies roughly 72 km from Xiahe town and about 56 km from Hezuo, the capital of Gannan Prefecture, placing travelers within reach of Labrang Monastery and the Sangke Grassland.
The single-storey passenger terminal covers approximately 3,185 square metres and is organized around domestic check-in counters, security checkpoints and a baggage claim area. A 3,200-metre runway and C-class aircraft stands support regional aircraft operations.
There is no scheduled airport shuttle, so most travelers continue by taxi or pre-arranged private transfer. The drive to Hezuo takes about an hour, while Xiahe and Labrang Monastery are reached in roughly 70 minutes by road.
