About Futaleufú Airport
Futaleufú Airport (FFU/SCFT) is a small public aerodrome serving the town of Futaleufú in Palena Province, in Chile's southern Los Lagos Region. The airport functions as a local gateway to the Patagonian Andes and the surrounding river valleys.
The aerodrome lies about 1.2 km east of the town centre and roughly 8 km from the Argentine border. It has a single asphalt runway, 09/27, measuring 948 m long and 18 m wide, at an elevation of 350 m.
Development of the airfield began in the early 1950s, and it is administered by Chile's Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC). It primarily supports small aircraft and domestic air connections for residents and visitors to this remote part of southern Chile.
By road, Futaleufú town is only a few minutes from the airport, and onward routes connect toward Palena, Chaitén and the Carretera Austral. The airport's compact size makes for a simple arrival and departure experience, while most services and accommodation are found in the town itself.
