About Chacalluta International Airport
Chacalluta International Airport is the main airport serving Arica and the Arica y Parinacota Region in northern Chile. Inaugurated in 1956, it is the country's northernmost commercial airport and sits about one kilometre south of the border with Peru.
Located approximately 18.5 km northeast of central Arica along the Pan-American route, the airport handles domestic flights, mainly connections to Santiago, and is equipped for international operations. A recent terminal expansion and modernization program enlarged the passenger terminal to around 12,000 m² and added new boarding gates, airline counters, aircraft stands and parking.
The airport is reached by road, and onward travel to Arica city center, nearby coastal areas and other destinations in the region is available by taxi, private transfer, rental car and bus.
Inside the terminal, travelers can use restaurants, cafés, shops, a VIP lounge, free Wi-Fi, charging points and parking, making the airport a practical gateway for visitors to northern Chile.
