About Fukushima Airport
Fukushima Airport is the main regional airport serving central and northern Fukushima Prefecture. Located in the city of Sukagawa, it opened in 1993 and later expanded its runway and added an international terminal to support a wider range of flights.
The airport handles domestic services, including routes to Sapporo and Osaka, as well as international charter operations. Its single, compact terminal keeps check-in, arrivals and departures close together, which makes the airport easy to navigate for both leisure and business travellers.
The airport lies roughly 27 km from central Koriyama, the region's main rail hub, and is connected by airport bus to Koriyama Station. Taxis, rental cars and private transfers provide additional options, and free on-site parking is available for travellers arriving by car.
