About El Tuqui Airport
El Tuqui Airport is a small public aerodrome serving Ovalle, the capital of the Limarí Province in Chile's Coquimbo Region. Administered by Chile's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), the airport mainly supports general aviation, light aircraft and regional aerial operations rather than large scheduled airline services.
The airport is located about 6 km northeast of central Ovalle along Ruta 43, the road connecting Ovalle with La Serena. It has a single asphalt runway, designated 04/22, measuring approximately 1,150 metres in length and 23 metres in width, at an elevation of about 343 metres. Conservation works completed in 2023 improved the runway and movement area.
Road access links the airport to Ovalle and the wider Limarí Valley, while the coastal cities of La Serena and Coquimbo lie roughly 90 km to the north and Santiago is around 400 km to the south.
As a compact regional facility, the airport provides a practical entry point for private and light aviation traffic visiting Ovalle and the surrounding agricultural and coastal areas.
