Eduard Alexander Gummels Airport is a compact international and executive airport serving Paramaribo and northern Suriname. The site began as Gummels Heliport Paramaribo in 2015 and was expanded with a paved runway and passenger terminal before its official opening as an international airport in March 2025.
Located in the Kwatta area, about 5 km north of central Paramaribo, the airport has a single passenger terminal and a runway of roughly 1,290 metres. It focuses on regional business travel, offshore helicopter operations, private aviation and general aviation, complementing the larger Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport.
The airport provides regional connections to Georgetown/Ogle in Guyana and Cayenne in French Guiana, with plans for wider links across the Guianas. Its position close to hospitals, hotels, malls and business centres makes it a practical entry point for travellers and companies working in the city and the surrounding region.
