Dushanbe International Airport is the main international airport serving Dushanbe and the wider Tajikistan region. It functions as the primary hub for Somon Air and Tajik Air and connects the capital with destinations across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
The airport's first facilities date back to 1924, and the present terminal complex was rebuilt in 1964. A modern passenger terminal opened in September 2014, adding 18 check-in counters, six boarding gates and an automated baggage system, with capacity for around 1.5 million passengers a year.
Located approximately 5 km from central Dushanbe, the airport is close to the city centre and can be reached by taxi, bus, private transfer or car. The short journey makes onward travel to hotels, business districts and surrounding areas straightforward.
