Diqing Shangri-La Airport serves Shangri-La City and the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern Yunnan, China. Opened on April 30, 1999, it is a high-altitude airport at roughly 3,280 metres above sea level and primarily handles domestic flights connecting the region with major Chinese cities.
Located about 5.5 km southwest of Shangri-La city centre, the airport is reached via the National Highway 214 and Shangri-La Kangba Main Road. Taxis and pre-arranged private transfers are the main road options for the short journey into central Shangri-La, Dukezong Old Town and nearby destinations.
The airport has two passenger terminals, including the larger Terminal 2, which is used for domestic operations and offers check-in counters, security channels, air bridges, restaurants, shops, a VIP lounge, ATMs and other passenger facilities.
