About Chubu Centrair International Airport

Chubu Centrair International Airport is the main international airport serving Nagoya and the central Japan region. Opened in February 2005, it was built on an artificial island in Ise Bay off the coast of Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture and took over most international and domestic air traffic from Nagoya's former airport.

Located about 37 km south of central Nagoya, the airport serves both business and leisure travelers with domestic and international connections across Japan and Asia. Its terminal complex includes Terminal 1 for full-service airlines and Terminal 2 for low-cost carriers, with arrivals and departures arranged over separate floors.

The airport is connected to Nagoya by the Meitetsu Airport Line, with the fastest trains reaching Nagoya Station in about 28 minutes. Buses, taxis, private transfers, rental cars, and high-speed boats to Tsu in Mie Prefecture provide additional onward travel options.

Passenger facilities include shopping and dining areas, lounges, a public bath, observation decks, accessibility services and the Flight of Dreams complex, making Centrair a comfortable entry point for visitors arriving in central Japan.
