About Chongqing Wushan Airport
Chongqing Wushan Airport is a domestic tourism regional airport serving Wushan County and the wider Three Gorges area of eastern Chongqing. Opened on 16 August 2019, it was originally known as Wushan Shennufeng Airport before taking its current name, and it mainly supports travelers visiting the Three Gorges region.
The airport sits at about 1,771 meters above sea level on the Wushan–Fengjie county border, making it the highest civil airport in Chongqing and earning it the nickname 'cloud airport'. It has a single one-story passenger terminal of about 3,500 square meters, five aircraft stands and a 2,600-meter runway, and it serves domestic routes to cities such as Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Haikou, Guiyang and Yantai.
Located in the mountains of eastern Chongqing, the airport is about 37 km by road from the Wushan county seat, with driving times typically around 45–60 minutes. Airport bus 603 and taxis connect the terminal to the county town, and the surrounding area gives access to Three Gorges viewpoints, the Qutang and Wu gorges, and Baidicheng.
With a compact terminal, self-service check-in, baggage services and an observation platform overlooking the gorge landscape, the airport serves as a practical gateway for visitors exploring the Three Gorges region.
