Chania International Airport is the main airport serving Chania and the wider western Crete region. Located on the Akrotiri peninsula, about 14 km from Chania city centre, it handles domestic and international flights and carries much of the island's seasonal holiday traffic.
The airport has a single passenger terminal that brings departures, arrivals, check-in, security and ground services together in one building. The current terminal was completed in 1996 and is operated by Fraport Greece, serving as a compact and practical entry point for visitors travelling to the island.
