César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport is the only airport serving Lanzarote and is the island's main international gateway. Located in San Bartolomé, around 5 km from the capital Arrecife, it connects Lanzarote with destinations across Europe and other Canary Islands.
The airport opened for civil aviation in 1946 and was later expanded, with the current Terminal 1 opened in 1999 to handle growing passenger numbers. Today it operates through two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for international and mainland Spain flights, and Terminal 2 for inter-island routes.
It is reached via the LZ-2 road, and travellers can continue to Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and other parts of the island by bus, taxi, rental car or pre-booked transfer.
