About Carrasco International Airport
Carrasco International Airport, officially Carrasco General Cesáreo L. Berisso International Airport, is Uruguay's largest and most important airport and the main gateway to Montevideo and the surrounding region. Located roughly 18 km east of the city centre, it serves both domestic and international travelers and links Uruguay with destinations across the Americas and Europe.
The airport's original passenger terminal opened in 1947. A new passenger terminal designed by architect Rafael Viñoly was inaugurated in 2009, and the original building was later converted for cargo use. The current terminal has three levels, eight boarding gates and a wide range of passenger services.
The airport is connected to Montevideo by road, with buses, taxis, remises, private transfers, chauffeur services and car rental options available for the roughly 20–40 minute journey to the city centre.
