Burqin Kanas Airport is a small domestic airport serving Burqin County and the popular Kanas Lake tourist area in the Altay region of northern Xinjiang, China. Opened in 2007, it was built to improve access to one of Xinjiang's most visited natural destinations and to reduce travel time from larger regional cities.
Located roughly 74 km northeast of Burqin County town and about 50 km south of Kanas Lake, the airport operates from a single terminal with a 2,500-metre runway. Its flights are primarily domestic, linking the area with Urumqi and other cities within Xinjiang.
Ground connections include shuttle buses between the airport and the Jiadengyu scenic area in the Kanas Nature Reserve, as well as taxis, private transfers and limited road links to Burqin town and surrounding areas.
Although facilities are compact, the airport provides a practical gateway for visitors heading to Kanas Lake, Hemu and other northern Xinjiang destinations.
