Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport is Romania's busiest international airport and the main gateway to Bucharest. Originally known as Bucharest-Otopeni International Airport, its passenger terminal opened on 13 April 1970 and the airport was later renamed in honour of Romanian aviation pioneer Henri Coandă.
Located in Otopeni, about 16.5 km north of central Bucharest, the airport handles domestic and international flights and serves as the main hub for Romania's flag carrier, TAROM. Its terminal complex is organized into international departures, international arrivals and domestic flight areas, with separate flows for Schengen and non-Schengen passengers.
