Brigadeiro Lysias Augusto Rodrigues Airport is the airport serving Carolina, a town in southern Maranhão on the banks of the Tocantins River. It is named after Brigadier Lysias Augusto Rodrigues, one of the founding figures of the Brazilian Air Force, and functions mainly as a regional and general aviation gateway.
The airport is located about 2 km from downtown Carolina at the end of Rua Santos Dumont, placing it within the urban area and very close to local hotels and services. Its single asphalt runway measures 1,800 metres and sits at an elevation of 172 metres.
Carolina is the main access point for the Chapada das Mesas National Park, known for its waterfalls, tabletop formations and natural pools. Travellers arriving by air can continue by road to the town centre and onward to regional attractions.
