About Brest International Airport
Brest International Airport is the main airport serving Brest and the western part of Belarus. It lies about 15 km east of the city centre, between the village of Shebrin and the M1/E30 highway, and functions as a regional gateway for the city of Brest, the Brest Fortress and the wider Brest region.
The modern airfield opened in 1976, when the first jet aircraft, a Tupolev Tu-134A, landed at the new runway. The passenger terminal complex was commissioned in 1986, and the airport received international status in 1993. A runway and apron reconstruction programme completed in 2017–2018 allows the airport to handle aircraft including Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 types.
Road access is convenient via the M1/E30 highway, and the journey to central Brest by taxi, private transfer or rental car typically takes about 20–30 minutes. City bus services also connect the airport with Brest, with schedules generally linked to flight times, and the Mechta hotel is located at the airport.
Today the airport has two passenger terminals: a second terminal reopened after reconstruction in 2026 to separate domestic and international passenger flows. Belavia operates scheduled flights to Moscow and Saint Petersburg, along with seasonal charter services to leisure destinations in Turkey and Egypt.
