Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport is the main international airport serving Brașov and the central Romanian region of Transylvania. Opened in June 2023, it is the first international airport built from scratch in Romania in 50 years and has become a convenient gateway for the city and the wider Brașov County area.
Located about 12 km northwest of central Brașov, near the town of Ghimbav, the airport serves a growing network of international destinations alongside domestic connections. Its single passenger terminal keeps arrivals, departures, check-in and security in one compact building, with a 2,820-metre runway capable of handling a wide range of aircraft.
The airport is connected to Brașov by the RATBV A1 express bus, which links the airport with Brașov railway station and the city centre, as well as by taxi, ride-hailing, private transfers and rental cars. These options make onward travel to Brașov, Poiana Brașov and other Transylvanian destinations straightforward.
