About Beira Lake Seaplane Base
Beira Lake Seaplane Base is a water aerodrome on Beira Lake in the heart of Colombo, connecting the city with Katunayake International Airport and a network of domestic seaplane destinations across Sri Lanka. The base is operated by Cinnamon Air, which uses the Cinnamon Lakeside Pier for landings and takeoffs.
Seaplane services from Beira Lake have a long history in Colombo. SriLankan Airlines previously operated air taxi flights, and later water-based "Jalatara" services in 2011–2012, before operations were suspended due to security concerns. The aerodrome was reinstated in 2025 with a Cessna 208 demonstration flight from Katunayake to Cinnamon Lakeside Pier.
Located roughly 2 km from Colombo's main city centre, the base sits close to the financial district and major hotels, making it a convenient point of arrival or departure for business and leisure travelers.
From Beira Lake, passengers can connect to Katunayake International Airport and onward to destinations such as Kandy, Sigiriya, Nuwara Eliya, Koggala and Trincomalee, with taxis, private transfers and road links available for the final leg into the city.
