About Beijing Capital International Airport
Beijing Capital International Airport is the main international airport serving Beijing and the surrounding North China region. Located northeast of central Beijing, it functions as the city's primary gateway for domestic and international flights and is a major hub for Air China and Star Alliance carriers.
The airport operates through three main terminal areas: Terminal 1 (West Zone), Terminal 2 and the much larger Terminal 3, which opened in 2008 to handle Olympic traffic. Together the terminals manage a broad mix of domestic, regional and long-haul operations, with Terminal 3 divided between domestic concourses and an international concourse.
The airport sits roughly 25–32 km from central Beijing and is connected to the city by the Capital Airport Express rail line, shuttle buses, taxis, ride-hailing services and road links. The express train links the terminals to central interchange stations, making onward travel to hotels, business districts and attractions relatively straightforward.
With extensive dining, shopping, lounge, currency exchange and accessibility facilities, the airport is designed to support a wide range of passengers, from business travelers to tourists arriving for Beijing's historic sights and onward journeys across China.
