Barra do Garças Airport is the main regional airport serving Barra do Garças and eastern Mato Grosso. It is classified as a primary regional airport and provides scheduled domestic connections linking the city to the state capital, Cuiabá.
The airport was reopened in 2016 after renovation work and began receiving scheduled commercial flights in November of that year. Azul Linhas Aéreas, through its Azul Conecta operation, flies ATR 72-600 aircraft between Barra do Garças and Cuiabá on weekdays.
Located along the BR-070 highway about 16 km from the city centre, the airport has a single passenger terminal and a paved runway sized for aircraft such as the ATR 72. Plans are in place to expand the terminal and improve the apron, runway and navigation systems.
Travellers can continue into Barra do Garças by taxi, private transfer, chauffeur service or rental car, with free on-site parking available for drivers.
