About Bacău George Enescu International Airport
Bacău George Enescu International Airport is the main airport serving Bacău and the Moldavia region of eastern Romania. Opened for passenger service in 1946 and granted international status in 1975, it is named after the Romanian composer George Enescu.
Located about 6 km from central Bacău, the airport links the region with domestic and European destinations and serves both leisure and business travellers, including a substantial diaspora passenger base.
A modern single-terminal building was inaugurated in 2017, replacing older facilities and providing a more efficient layout for check-in, security and boarding. The terminal includes four boarding gates and passenger amenities such as a business lounge, shops, a café, an ATM and free Wi-Fi.
The airport is connected to Bacău by bus line 18, taxis, private transfers and rental cars, while the E85 European road passes close to the airport for onward travel across the region.
