Astypalaia Island National Airport is a small domestic airport serving Astypalaia, a butterfly-shaped island in Greece's Dodecanese archipelago. Also known as Panagia Airport, it connects the island with Athens and functions as the main air gateway for travelers arriving in this part of the Aegean.
Located about 8.5 km northeast of Chora, the island's main town, the airport sits on the narrow strip of land joining the island's two halves. Its 989-metre runway means it handles only smaller aircraft, and scheduled flights operate mainly between Astypalaia and Athens, with frequencies increasing during summer.
The airport is reached by taxi, pre-arranged transfer or rental car from Chora and the port area at Pera Gialos, with some hotels also offering shuttle pick-ups. During the summer, a public bus circulates between the airport and the town.
Facilities at the airport are intentionally simple, with a small waiting area and check-in desks rather than large commercial spaces. Because there is no canteen or café in the terminal, travelers are advised to carry water and essentials before their flight.
