It mainly supports seaplane charter and private flights, while scheduled services to the Arugam Bay area are often routed through Batticaloa, about 146 km north, followed by a road transfer.
The base sits just north of Arugam Bay village and a short drive from Pottuvil town, placing it close to the area's beaches, surf breaks and Kumana National Park. Seaplanes land and take off directly from the lagoon, and passengers are handled at a compact jetty-side boarding point.
