Arkalyk North Airport (AYK)

Arkalyk North Airport is a small domestic airport serving Arkalyk and the wider Torgay region in Kostanay Province, north-central Kazakhstan. After a long period without passenger services, the airport reopened in August 2026 following a major reconstruction, and its IATA code AYK was officially reinstated on 12 August 2026.

Located about 9 km north of central Arkalyk, the airport provides scheduled connections to Astana, Almaty and Kostanay, helping reduce the region's transport isolation and improving access for residents and visitors. The new two-storey passenger terminal is designed to handle around 70 passengers per hour and supports domestic arrivals and departures.

The reconstruction included the passenger terminal, a 2,500-metre runway, taxiway and apron, together with a control tower, emergency rescue station and supporting infrastructure. The airport is connected to Arkalyk by road, with taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars available for the short journey into the city.

As a compact regional gateway, Arkalyk North Airport offers essential passenger facilities such as a waiting hall, medical point, mother-and-child room and food service area, and provides a practical base for travel across north-central Kazakhstan.
