About Ar Horqin Airport
Ar Horqin Airport is a small general aviation airport serving Ar Horqin Banner in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia. It opened on 1 October 2020 as an A1-class general aviation airport and was the first general aviation airport in Chifeng to receive an airport operating licence.
Located about 8 kilometres northeast of Tianshan Town, the administrative seat of Ar Horqin Banner, the airport provides short-haul regional connections rather than large-scale scheduled airline traffic. Its compact terminal is built from three yurt-style structures totalling about 600 square metres, with a 1,200-metre runway suitable for small aircraft such as the Cessna 208B and Harbin Y-12.
The airport has supported short passenger routes to Chifeng and Tongliao, reducing what was previously a much longer road journey from the banner to Chifeng. These services make it easier for local residents and visitors to move between Ar Horqin Banner and other parts of the region.
Because the facility is small, travellers should plan for a simple, limited range of airport services and arrange road transport in advance for the short transfer to Tianshan Town and nearby areas.
